Drinker Adware. How to Remove Drinker App?

If your device suddenly displays ads where there were none before, and the Drinker application background process runs in Task Manager, your system needs maintenance. Drinker Adware is the source of all those annoying ads. It also runs your web browser without your involvement and makes your system less secure against other malware. All kinds of methods are good for them, whether stealing your data or getting paid for showing ads. Removing the Drinker app should be your primary task.

What is the Drinker app?

The Drinker is a classic example of adware. Instead of its declared functionality, it floods your computer with questionable ads, not neatly designed banners, and possibly even containing grammatical errors in the text. The problem with these ads is that they appear even in places where they are not provided. In addition, you can’t block them with standard ad blockers because they are displayed in an overlay to the site. Drinker Adware is malware, as confirmed by VirusTotal test, where several security software vendors recognized it as malicious. In addition to ads, Drinker Adware contacts two IP addresses that the developer did not mention. This indicates that it sends your data to a third party. The program also has a very strange behavior, similar to obfuscation techniques, which also play against benevolence.

Spreading methods and implications

The primary way Drinker Adware spreads is by disguising itself as a useful application, such as one that helps the user maintain physical fitness. The application will periodically notify the user to perform some physical activity but flood the browser with ads and send the data somewhere. Sometimes Adware can be installed under the guise of a browser add-on or after a “Update flash player” notification. Some users will not suspect anything and click “refresh,” but the catch is that flash player is not supported since 2021. The success of such trivial tricks is quite simple – poor cybersecurity awareness among users.

Any adware is terrible for your system. Although it will not cause as much damage as other malware, it loads the processor and RAM, which is critical for weak computers. In addition, the content displayed by banners is often fraudulent or sensitive, and the links may lead to fraudulent sites. Finally, the longer Drinker Adware runs on your PC, the more data it can collect about you and your activity. This is the essence of spyware.

I was always interested in computer sciences, especially in data security and the theme, which is called nowadays "data science", since my early teens. Because I was lack of related literature, I tried to find something in the Web, so, virus injections was usual for me. That's why I've got quite high skill while dealing with viruses on my computer. When I heard about the website with different guidelines about virus removal and anti-virus programs, I've joined him with no doubt. Before coming into Virusremoval team as Editor-in-chief, I was working as cybersecurity expert several companies, including one of Amazon contractors. Another experience I have got is teaching in Arden and Reading universities.
